    Overview

    "Hip", "upscale", "jazzy" and "eclectic" are all words to describe the Hotel Indigo Baltimore Downtown. With a personality of its own, this 100 year hotel has been labeled as a historic landmark and is known for being home to the first YMCA in Baltimore.

    Position Summary

    The purpose of this position is to ensure cleanliness of washable items (trays, bowls, plates, cups, glasses, silverware, etc.) and dish room area in order to maintain the hotel's standards of quality.

    Responsibilities

    • Wash dishes, glassware, and pots or pans using a dishwasher or by hand
    • Sweep or scrub floors 
    • Organize and restock work areas for next shift.
    • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
    • Handle all items carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
    • Transport garbage containers from kitchen and work areas to dumpster; empty and clean.  Adhere to recycling regulations.
    • Clean spills in Kitchen and work areas immediately.

    Qualifications

    • Experience working in a kitchen environment
    • Great communication skills
    • Ability to learn and apply hazardous chemical training standards during new hire introductory period.
    • Ability to exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
    • Ability to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
